We made it! No problems at all, thank you Ralph. We left Thomas Crossing at 8 am so we could take Cindy, his wife, to work in downtown Fort Worth. The South Freeway had icy patches and some idiot drivers, but Ralph had an easy time avoiding them. Instead of going thru the Mixmaster, he exited and went thru the hospital district. As expected, those streets were mostly cleared or sanded. It took us about 40 minutes to get to downtown.
We then went out Airport Freeway and had no problem at all getting to the airport. Not fast traffic, but we got here at about 9:15. The only real idiot we saw was actually the guy to the right of us after we went thru the DFW tool booth. He hit his gas too hard and spun on the ice, but he was far enough away that he didn’t hit us. We noticed as we passed by him that he hadn’t cleaned his windshield well either.
Cindy made us a goodie bag to take on the plane. Thank you Cindy, the muffins are delicious! Phillip had fussed at me because my carryon was full of phone chargers and books, so it contains only limited snacks (gum and one small package of pretzels). Now we have fruit, brownies, pretzels, drink and coffee mix for the water bottles, candy, and more muffins (homemade muffins and brownies!).
We’ve still got over an hour to wait for the plane, but I’d rather be here than stuck in traffic or in a ditch. I glanced at the arrival/departure board as we checked in, and it looks like most flights are leaving on time.
We have our blue backpack suitcase that we will carry throughout our trip. The black suitcase in the picture (which contains another suitcase inside it) will be left tomorrow at the final hotel, to be retrieved on March 4 and filled with returning items. One final note… Phillip is wearing trekking pants, not blue jeans. Smart guy!
Bon Voyage! I'm looking forward to adventuring vicariously.
ReplyDeleteHa! I was going to comment one last time (tired of hearing from me tonight?!) and ask about the jeans. Very smart man, indeed, L0L! :-D
